Over the weeks i have struggled to find my creativity, and have been envyous of those in my class who have already found theirs. At last i can share with you all my creative adventure of the evening.

From my house to the library on campus is normally a thirty minute leisurly walk. Five minutes into the journey to the library i had the genious to go explore and try and find a shorter way of getting there, despite any previous knowledge a shorter way existed. So i took a slight detour and soon i saw a short muddy path opening which seemed to pass the church on my left. And hey presto it cut through into the science park and before i knew it i was walking through alcuin and at the library (it only took me 15 minutes).

It appeared my creative juices had been unlocked and i was able to effortlessly read about Goleman and Witkin and all those other creative genious’s. In turn this had led to my most productive library session since coming to uni. When i told my housemates they were less impressed, i know you guys will appreciate this fasinating experience. This was the most exciting part of my day. HOW SAD IS THAT!!

Who knows in what ways i will be just as creative in the following weeks. Whatever happens I will be sure to keep you all updated. I am now an extremely happy fellow!!! For those who have yet to found their creativity, don’t panic it will come soon, and as i found out will be unexpected.

Introduction

I am writing this blog as part of my module ‘creativity through the arts and sciences’, as part of the course ‘Educational Studies’ at the University of York. I would like to welcome you to the writing of my first edublog. Creativity is a key component of life that a large majority of us seem to lose with age. Why is this the case? Who is to blame? I have never thought of myself as a creative person in the past, so hopefully this blog will help develop my creativity, that i can valuably use in the future.

Week 1

I am looking forward to this module greatly, as it seems like a lot of fun. It seems to incorporate a large proportion of self exploration, group work and the learning of new relaxation techniques. I am looking forward to learning from Amanda as she seems to bring a lot of energy and enthusiam to the class and appears to be a very creative person. I am still getting use to the working of this blog but hope it will produce a positive outcome.

Week 2

Following this session my preconception that this module would be an easier option than some of the other modules offerered by the department does not exist. Having experienced a self hypnosis technique in today’s class, i understand that attempting to regain my creativity will not be easy. Whereas in other modules a lot more emphasis will be placed on research, this one will require a lot more personal feedback.

Creativity through sport

Is it possible to be creative through sport? I pose the question as i am a person who struggles to express his creativity through main stream art based activities like drawing. I feel sport, especially hockey is the main medium through which i can express my creativity. For example it requires a large amount of creativity to be able to pick out the right ball to play to your team mate which may lead to a potential goal scoring opportunity. Howard Gardner talked about the idea of lots of different types of intelligence, and how everyone learns better through some of these intelligences more than others. He mentioned the idea of a kinaesthetic intellegence, expressed through body movements, like in sports. I feel i have a natural tendancy towards kinaesthetic intelligence as i enjoy playing lots of sports.
